Biotechnology is a frontline area of science with immense potential for the benefit of human kind. The department of Biotechnology is the oldest & the largest department of the Institute, established in 2004. The Department aims to generate human resource for future leadership positions in varied fields of Biotechnology. Our vision is to attain new heights in Biotechnology research, shaping our students with the basics of the subjects so that they can be premier precision tools of the future. The department has well equipped laboratories catering to the needs in varied fields of Biotechnology like molecular biology, enzyme technology, plant tissue culture and biochemistry. Some of the instruments of the department are refrigerated centrifuge, deepfreeze, Gel Documentation system, orbital shakers, thermal cycler, UV-Transilluminator, Fermenter, Colorimeter, Laminar Flow, CO2 incubators, Inverted Microscope & spectrophotometers. There are about 80 Post Graduate & 120 Under Graduate students in the department Most of the students have successfully entered careers in public/private, Govt. and semi government organizations. Many have opted for higher education in India and abroad. The department strives towards consistent quality improvement to keep up the academic standards and to become a centre of excellence in teaching and promoting research.
