SILB offers state- of- art infrastructural facilities for teaching and research purposes. Spread over a sprawling campus measuring 50,000 sq. ft. in two blocks, the institute has well equipped laboratories and lecture theatres, a library and a computer centre with seamless wireless and ethernet connectivity.

Replete with all requisite gadgets, the lab provides excellent ambience for characterization of biodiversity and population analysis.

These offer complete facilities for research and training in enzymology and fermentation technology.

These sterilized labs offer facilities to undertake practicals on virulant and pathogenic micro-organisms.

The Lab has facilities to maintain more than 10,000 regenerants at a time, with a provision for further expansion. It is presently engaged in raising in vitro cultures of apple, bamboo, carnations, chrysanthemum, lavender, and lilium. Its certification for commercial purposes is being sought from the Dept. of Biotechnology, GOI, New Delhi.

These are well equipped labs with a sufficient number of dissecting, compound and research microscopes besides charts, models, digital balance, Ovens, etc.

Fully stocked with glassware and reagents for salt analysis and other analytical processes.

Well equipped with flywheels, spectrometers, biprism assembly, Carey Foster bridges, potentiometers, multimeters, diffraction grating, Newton ring apparatus etc.

With modern computer facilities and advanced software, the unit provides perfect setup for database generation and gene prediction

The labs are well equipped with 100 computers and an Ethernet LAN network with the desired hardware and software configuration. Broadband internet facility is also available and the campus is equipped with wi-fi technology.

SILB maintains a good reference collection of preserved plants in a herbarium and museum for scientific study. Besides dried and pressed plants of angiosperms, gymnosperms and pteridophytes, it has a wet collection of alcohol preserved specimens of algae, fungi, bryophytes and pteridophytes.

SILB has invested heavily in establishing well-stocked central and departmental libraries. At present the holdings include more than 10,000 books, periodicals, journals, magazines, and scientific reports. A computer is also provided for scanning relevant literature and articles recorded on CDs, and for browsing online scientific journals in each library.

Regular outdoor games; quiz programs; debates, declamations, paper reading and essay writing contests; social get together, etc. are important activities of the institute.

The student centre has a well-equipped gymnasium, eatery, a roof top cafeteria and recreational facilities. A reprographic and communication counter is attached. The centre also has appropriate facilities for cultural activities.

Medical facility is provided by way of residential visit of a doctor in the hostels and an on-campus dispensary.

Residence life is an important aspect of the educational experience. SILB offers separate hostels for girls and boys with furnished rooms (except linen) and other facilities including common room, TV lounge, reading room, indoor games. There will be internet facility for the residents. Medical facility by way of resident visits of a doctor in the hostel shall also be available.

The institute has a guest house with modern amenities. The facility can be availed by the visiting faculty, students and their parents, and others on official visit.
