Freshers’ Night

Every year, SILBians eagerly look forward to Freshers’ Night which is organized to welcome new students to SILB fraternity. The main objectives to organize such an event are to bring together all students of SILB, provide freshers a platform to showcase their talents and integrate them with the old students and create a sense of fellowship among all.

Freshers’ Night on 20th September, 2008 was marked by a colourful pageant of dance and music., Prof. P.K. Khosla President SILB, was the Chief Guest. The winners of the ‘ramp show’ were: Nandita Thakur and Vishal Dhiman of the first semester M.Sc. Biotech. as Miss and Mr. Fresher, resprectively; Shilpee Tagore, B.Sc. Hons Microbiology I year as Miss Personality; Rajesh Thakur, B.Sc. Hons Biotech. I year as Mr. Personality; Sheetal Chauhan and Vikas Kashyap of B.Pharmacy 1st semester as Miss Ramp Diva and Mr. Ramp Hunk, respectively.

SILBians excel at St. Bede’s College Fest

Five students, Tushar Ghosh, Shilpa Verma, Neha Ahuja, Neha Morewal and Megha Katoch, all from B.Sc.( Hons ) Biotech. III year, participated in one day College Fest organized by St. Bede’s College on November 11, 2008 at Shimla. The SILB Team of Tushar Ghosh, Shilpa Verma and Neha Ahuja was placed first in Treasure Hunt.

Navchetna- SILB Students’ Magazine released

Mrs. Saroj Khosla , President, Foundation for Life Sciences and Business Management released the inaugural issue of ‘Navchetna’, a SILB students’ magazine, during the farewell function for the outgoing first batch of B.Sc. ( Hons ) Biotechnology in Anand Banquet Hall on 30th April 2008. The bilingual magazine is aimed at providing the students and their parents an insight into the hidden literary prowess of SILBians and various activities at the institute.

Teachers’ Day Celebration

The students celebrated Teachers’ Day with great enthusiasm on 5th September, 2008. In his address to the gathering on both the occasions, Prof PK Khosla, President, SILB, urged the teachers to emulate the simple life and humane quality of a true teacher Dr Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan, who became President of India and whose birthday came to be celebrated as Teachers’ Day. He appreciated the efforts of teachers in developing SILB in to a leading private educational institute in the region. The students paid glowing tributes to teachers in moulding their life and future. They honoured the teachers by presenting them with rose buds and memontos. A scintillating cultural pageant was presented to the teachers to create a jubilant atmosphere, followed by a sumptuous dinner.

SILBians celebrate Lohri with Fervour

Enchanting traditional songs by the students marked the Lohri celebrations at SILB campus on 11th January, 2008. The function started with the lighting of the bonfine by SILB President Prof PK Khosla. The students and faculty members enjoyed peanuts and traditional sweets like ‘rewaris’ and ‘gachak’, and later danced together around the bonfine to the beat of Punjabi folk music An ‘antakshari’ of songs was also played between students and teachers. The function concluded with sumptuous dinner.

Independence Day Celebration

Independence Day of our country is celebrated at SILB with great fervour and enthusiasm on 15th August, 2008. The celebrations started with the hoisting of National Flag by the Chief Guest, Prof PK Khosla, President SILB and ended with lunch for all.

Republic Day Celebration

The Republic Day was celebrated on 26th January, 2009 at Bhajol Campus of the Institute in which the faculty, staff and students participated. The President of the Institute, Prof PK Khosla hoisted the National flag and delivered speech highlighting SILB’s achievements and strategic plan of the proposed Shoolini University of Biotechnology and Business Management. The students presented a colourful cultural programme of patriotic songs and folk dances.
